The primary objective of the Federal Scientific State Budgetary Institution
"N.A. Semashko National Research Institute of Public Health" (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) is to generate, based on fundamental and applied research, new knowledge and deepen existing knowledge in the field of public health, healthcare organization, healthcare economics, healthcare management, sociology, and the history of medicine and healthcare, as well as to train highly qualified scientific personnel.

 

The Institute's current research priorities include:  

  • Scientific substantiation of approaches to developing organizational technologies aimed at preserving the population’s health;
  • Improvement of the quality of life of patients with genetically determined diseases
    and their family members;
  • Enhancement of methodological approaches to assessing and preserving the population’s health, taking into account age-specific factors;
  • Development of strategies to mitigate risks associated with the decline in the quality
    of public health;
  • Establishment of a real-time monitoring system that captures public health responses
    as a medical and social resource and a potential for society to global geopolitical, biological,
    and man-made challenges.

The Institute is a center for training scientists.  

The Institute operates two dissertation councils for the defense of doctoral and candidate dissertations:  

  • Specialty 3.2.3 – “Public health, healthcare organization and sociology, medical and social expertise”;
  • Specialty 5.6.6 – “History of medicine and healthcare.”

The Russian Museum of Medicine, as a structural division of our Institute, was founded in 2016.
